A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Reeves graduated with highest distinction from Pennsylvania State University and with honors from the Jefferson Medical College as part of their accelerated 5 year combined degree program. He completed an internal medicine residency and served as chief medical resident at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. This was followed by a fellowship in nephrology at the same institution. After fellowship, Dr. Reeves was a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he studied electrolyte transport in the kidney and directed the nephrology fellowship training program. Since 2000 he has been professor of medicine, chief of the Division of Nephrology and vice chair for research at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Reeves directs an active research program in the field of acute kidney injury and has made significant contributions regarding the role of the innate immune system, including inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, toll like receptors, and dendritic cells to the pathogenesis of kidney injury.

In addition to his research activities, Dr. Reeves is an active clinician who cares for patients with a wide spectrum of kidney diseases. He has been recognized for ranking in the top percentile nationwide for patient satisfaction.
