Our highly skilled surgeons have a long history of working with children and adults with cancerous and non-cancerous tumors. With some of the highest rates of liver cancer in the nation, it is with pride that we offer our community a one-stop location for complex liver care.
The liver tumor surgical program includes medical oncologists, hepatologists, radiation oncologists, and interventional radiologists—as well as a registered dietitian, a social worker, and ancillary and support staff members experienced with liver disease to manage the underlying cause.
Valeria Garcia is a beautiful young girl with a tenacious spirit and unwavering optimism. Valeria survived several surgeries including her last in 2011— a tumor, previously deemed inoperable, was the size of a watermelon and pressing against her aorta. University Transplant Center surgical specialists were able to remove the tumor and provide expert care, finally giving the Garcia family the happy ending they deserved.
With this large team of specialists, we are able to offer adult and pediatric patients, like Valeria, the most comprehensive liver services in the region.
