Bacterial overgrowth breath testing is used to diagnose small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, also known as SIBO. Patients in need of this test sometimes show no symptoms, but those with symptoms typically suffer from abdominal discomfort, bloating and diarrhea. Once diagnosed, specialists are able to plan the most appropriate regimen that will eliminate the bacteria, causing the symptoms to subside.
