UT Health San Antonio's Movement Disorders Program is led by a team of board-certified, fellowship-trained neuroscience experts who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.

Our specialists evaluate and treat patients inside the hospital as well as at the Medical Arts & Research Center. Both settings allow for the diagnostic testing needed to accurately diagnose and treat all types of movement disorders. We offer modern diagnostic services including advanced neuro-imaging, electrodiagnostic technology and neurocognitive testing. Treatments could include medication, botulinum toxin injections, deep brain stimulation, carbidopa/levodopa enteral suspension therapy, baclofen pump therapy, physical, occupational, speech and language therapy.

Comprehensive care for movement disorders

In order to develop the best care plan possible, we will consult and collaborate with our other neuroscience experts as well as our patient's physicians and medical specialists. This type of comprehensive care allows us to create an effective treatment plan that is specifically tailored to control our patient’s symptoms and improve their lives.

We also offer exceptional patient and family support in partnership with the American Parkinson Disease Association. We operate the Alamo Area Parkinson’s Disease Information and Referral Center whose mission is to provide education and support for patients and their care partners. Through this partnership, we provide patient and family support groups and various educational opportunities.

Effective care for movement disorders requires the expertise, compassion, and resources our neuroscience team offers. Patients rely on the decades of experience, vast research and modern technology our nationally recognized specialists provide.
