When heart valves become diseased, the physician practice of UT Health San Antonio's cardiothoracic surgeons are the trusted experts in all types of heart valve procedures. Our surgeons are skilled at determining the best course of treatment for each patient based on their particular valve problem. Our expert surgical team spearheaded San Antonio's first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) program to offer patients a less-invasive method for replacing the aortic valve with a new prosthetic valve. We are continuing to lead the way in progressive heart and valve procedure through our clinical trials.
