Infectious Disease

The Infectious Disease practice at UT Health San Antonio provides a comprehensive array of services for people with bacterial, fungal, parasitic or viral infections, those traveling or returning from travel, and those who’ve undergone bone marrow or organ transplants.

Our practice accurately diagnoses and effectively cares for all infectious diseases, including viral hepatitis (B and C), osteomyelitis, sexually transmitted diseases, recurrent urinary tract infections chronic fungal or mycobacterial infections, latent tuberculosis, HIV and more. We also provide prevention counseling, immunizations, and treatment and care for patients who may be experiencing immunosuppression due to medications, or following bone marrow or organ transplants.

We operate a full-service travel medicine practice to both prepare our patients for travel and to help those who return home with malaria, parasitic infections and other diseases. We have access to modern microbiology laboratories including The University of Texas Health Science Center Fungus Testing Laboratory, a premier international reference center.
