Salary

Salaries for Police Officers at the University of Texas Health San Antonio Police Department (UTPD) are determined in accordance with the State’s law enforcement salary schedule (Salary Schedule C, Option 3), which is part of the State’s Classification Plan. Salary Schedule C establishes the salary ranges and salary steps for the compensation of law enforcement positions in the State’s law enforcement occupational category.

Further, biennially, the State Auditor’s Office has statutory responsibilities to survey and analyze the Salary Schedule C provided by selected local law enforcement departments in accordance with Texas Government Code, Section 654.037(b). The State Auditor’s Office compared the State’s direct compensation for positions paid according to the State’s law enforcement salary schedule (Salary Schedule C) and the direct compensation provided by the seven largest local law enforcement departments in the state. Based on the findings and analysis of the survey conducted by the State Auditor’s Office, a report was prepared and offers three options for adjusting the salaries in the State’s law enforcement Salary Schedule C.

Finally, the UTPD provides additional incentive pay for, Education or Police Officer certifications and bilingual language skills. See total compensation details below.
