Kim Do

Kim Do  Class of 2017

Kim Do is from Houston, Texas and an alumni of the University of Texas at Austin, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. The interdisciplinary education about the relationship between biology and society that she received gave her a great foundation for her next venture: working towards her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UT Health San Antonio.

Research and the fact that you’re always on the cutting edge of an answer or solution has always interested her. Research is a very serious world, but if and when you find an answer to something, it’s a really good feeling. During her participation in the Dental Summer Scholar for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland she got to work with lab and clinical research that involved real patients, making it more applicable. She also got to work with a clinical fellow who was not only an exceptional researcher, but also a great teacher. The experiences she obtained are valuable and one of a kind, especially for students with interest in the dental research field.

Kim urges students with an interest in dental research to consider the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the UT Health San Antonio, and all of the extracurricular research opportunities that it offers. She emphasizes that no research happens in isolation, so if you’re interested in dental research, this is a beneficial and amazing program to be a part of.
