Dr. Forland receives medical society’s Distinguished Service Award


Marvin Forland, M.D., MACP

Emeritus professor Marvin Forland, M.D., a founding faculty member at what is now UT Health San Antonio, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Bexar County Medical Society at a Jan. 19 gala.

Initially chief of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Forland went on to serve as associate dean for clinical affairs for the School of Medicine until his retirement in 1999. He continues to serve in the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics at UT Health San Antonio, which he was instrumental in creating. The center teaches ethics and professionalism while nurturing empathy and humanitarian values.
