UT Health San Antonio is proud to be a part of its vibrant community, as well as San Antonio’s most treasured celebrations of Fiesta. For this reason, this year’s UT Health San Antonio fiesta medal was designed to reflect the tradition of papel picado, or “perforated paper,” a Mexican folk art. This decorative craft involves cutting designs into sheets of tissue paper that are then displayed as banners to mark special occasions. In salute to Fiesta’s non-stop energy, the medal’s design is clad in the university’s signature color of UT orange and sports an artful homage to its logo that features our beloved Alamo (on top of the shield) and Lone Star of Texas. We hope that all who don this bright tribute to our city’s charm and colorful spirit have a happy, safe and UT Healthier Fiesta!
