Inaugural South Texas Alzheimer’s Conference set

The Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases, in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association, will host the inaugural South Texas Alzheimer’s Conference Feb. 25-26.

The conference will focus on the themes of Alzheimer’s disease in the Hispanic population and personalized and precision approaches to dementia prevention, diagnosis and care. It will feature more than 60 experts from across the nation, including the National Institute on Aging, Columbia University, MD Anderson and the Mayo Clinic, who specialize in neurodegenerative diseases.

Alzheimer’s disease is approaching the status of a public health crisis. Of any other demographic, the Hispanic population is projected to see the most growth in developing the disease. Despite the higher risk rates, there is less research being done within the Hispanic community.

Conference attendees are invited to submit a poster abstract for a poster presentation and poster blitz competition. Poster prizes will be awarded.
